About me
Lynn Artz is a life-long gardener, now native plant advocate. In 2018, she led a team of volunteers to create the native plant gardens at Sopchoppy Depot Park, a 1.7-acre city park. The gardens expanded in 2021 with a Viva Florida Landscape Demonstration grant from the Florida Wildflower Foundation and now feature nearly 200 native plant species. In 2021, the Florida Native Plant Society (FNPS) awarded Sopchoppy Depot Park the 2021 Award of Excellence for Institutional Landscapes. A retired physician, public health professional, and educator, Artz has engaged and instructed graduate, undergraduate, and high school students and supervised field activities. She has a master’s degree in secondary education. She’s a past coordinator of an annual 4-day environmental conference for Florida students entering grades 10-12. She's on the board of the Sarracenia Chapter of FNPS and serves on the FNPS Council of Chapters.
