Lori Nicholson is the Instructional Systems Specialist at St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) near St. Marks Florida. She grew up in Oklahoma, and has taught in OK, TX, and FL. She has resided in the Big Bend region of Florida for the past 22 years. She received her B.S. in Elementary Education from Northeastern State University in Oklahoma, and her B.S. and M.S. in Wildlife and Fisheries Ecology from Oklahoma State University. She has worked both in formal and non-formal education, teaching all ages K-Adult. She has taught in schools, at St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge, at the Tallahassee Museum, and was a Senior Interpretive Education Instructor/Facilitator for Disney’s Wilderness Adventures at Walt Disney World. Lori enjoys being outdoors, horseback riding, fishing, hiking, and gardening. She currently acts as the Chair for the Florida Project Learning Tree state steering committee and is past president for the League of Environmental Educators in Florida. In addition to overseeing education programs at St. Marks NWR Lori also partners with the Florida State Wildlife agency (FWC) acting as HuntMaster for the youth spring turkey hunt, and the youth White-tailed deer and hog hunt that are held annually.
