About me
Camila Vallejo is a Parks Naturalist for Broward County Parks and Recreation. She has always loved the outdoors, nature, and exploration. Having grown up in the urban city of Hialeah, FL, young Camila longed to connect with the natural world. She attended New College of Florida in Sarasota pursuing Marine Biology until she realized her love for informal education. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences having created an informal educational program teaching children about the Sarasota Bay Estuary as her thesis. Post grad, Camila began studying Yoga to understand the mind and learn how to cope with the many stressors of the world including environmental and social issues. She went on to spend a year in upstate NY at a camp where she worked several jobs and eventually, her heart led her back to FL. While applying for jobs within Broward County, Camila came across a Naturalist opening and has been working with the county since September 2021. Her mission as a naturalist is to provide accessible environmental education to the public. She hopes to give participants a deeper sense of appreciation for local ecosystems and guide them as they build their own personal relationship with nature no matter their age, abilities, or background.
